neither here nor there
. In my thesis, neither here nor there I work with LGBTQ identifying movement artists to practice ways of subverting the expectations of space through subtle and expansive movement scenarios. Through performance, we question the quiet obedience of these normative spaces and look for moments of rupture that bring us back to the body.
Thinking about the disconnection between architecture and queer desires, this project interrupts home improvement stores through improvised group movement scenarios. Having spent a significant amount of time in home improvement sites growing up, I think about the many times that I felt an urge to break out into dance, or song and would feel frustrated by the limiting public eye.
